Wildly Different is a specialist family support programme working with 15 young people and their families over several months.

Wildly Different offers the group a series of outdoor days away and residential trips with progressions and engagement work in-between.

The Wildly Different Programme builds on Imayla's practical and intercultural experience and is for young people facing difficult times. It's an opportunity to have fun, build trust, friendships and enjoy time in the great outdoors. Children and young people will have time to explore the challenges they face, learn new skills and celebrate their strengths.

The menu of activity on the programme can include: music, drama, singing, radio & film-making, bush craft & survival skills, arts & crafts, storytelling, circus skills, woodworking and water-based activities. All delivered using a 'forest school' approach to ensure all participants are set up to succeed.

A key aspect of the programme aims to support professionals, parents and carers to experience the advantages of working in this way with the Imayla team, to give added value to the more regular social care and educational work they do.

Support workers tell us that they achieve so much more in a day or weekend away with their clients than in weeks of shorter interventions: it's a chance to see the whole child/young person/family and share positive experiences which create more mutual understanding, respect and stronger bonds, all of which can be drawn upon to huge positive effect in on-going work.

The Wildly Different programme prioritises young people living in or from East Central Bristol - Ashley, Easton or Lawrence Hill, although we will accept applications from elsewhere in the city so please do apply.

There is a cost of £200 for participation in Wildly Different which we will discuss with each family and supporting organisation on a needs basis.
