Designed to develop confidence in the outdoors, develop self -esteem and build positive relationships between 9-13 year olds, some of them in foster care. This camp developed survival skills through bush craft workshops and resilience through challenging activities like surfing and horse-riding. Living and working together in the beautiful Exmoor National Park for five days allowed the camp to focus on Social and Emotional Aspects of Learning (SEAL) and creating a big happy family.
“I like camping and going to the countryside, it is so peaceful, it’s using natural light. It’s just having fun and being adventurous and trying something new. Not living life in a box, living life to the full outside the box. It helps you learn to survive and to realise.”

“What’s the difference between being here and being at home playing computer games? Well here it’s like you’re living a computer game and it’s way better than a computer game. Computer games are bad for your eye sight and this is way good for your eye sight cos you can just see everything and just do it, go and jump in the sea.”

“Cos we have to wash up and loads of stuff and you look back at your house what you don’t do, it is really interesting. Cos I don’t wash up for my house but I washed up here and it is really easy and I think I could do that at home. And my manners and all that I can give more manners to my mom and be polite.”
